Bowbells Florist is a family-run florist based at Russell Street, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, GL1 1NE. We have been arranging and delivering flowers in Gloucester since 1985.
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or place an order with us, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We are the “data controller” of the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, you can contact us at:
We collect different information depending on how you interact with us:
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Under UK data protection law, we rely on the following legal bases:
We do not store your full card details on our own systems. Payments made on our website are processed securely by our payment provider(s) — currently card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay (via WooCommerce Payments) and/or PayPal. When you pay, your payment details are sent directly to that provider under their own privacy policy and security standards (both are PCI-DSS compliant). We only receive confirmation that payment was successful, along with the last few digits of your card where applicable, for your order record.
If you choose delivery, we share the delivery name and address with whoever is fulfilling that delivery — either our own local delivery team (for locally-delivered fresh flowers in Gloucestershire) or Royal Mail (for postable items sent further afield). If you choose Click & Collect, no delivery address is shared with anyone outside Bowbells Florist, since you’ll be collecting in person from our Russell Street shop.
Our website uses a small number of cookies that are necessary for it to work properly, for example to remember what’s in your shopping basket and to keep you logged in if you have an account. These are set automatically by WooCommerce, the shop software our website runs on, and cannot be switched off without breaking the ability to shop on our site.
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in a cookie so you don’t have to fill them in again next time — these last for one year.
We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. If that changes in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
We only share your personal information with third parties where it’s necessary to run our business and fulfil your order, namely:
We do not share your information with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
We keep order information for as long as necessary to fulfil that order, and afterwards for our tax and accounting records — normally 6 years, in line with UK HMRC requirements. If you have an account with us, we keep your account information for as long as your account exists. If you contact us with an enquiry that doesn’t lead to an order, we keep that correspondence for 2 years, then delete it.
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details at the top of this page. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and ask that anyone under 13 does not submit personal information to us without a parent or guardian’s involvement.
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including using a securely hosted website and working with payment providers who meet industry security standards (PCI-DSS). No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information to industry standards.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add new features to our website or our legal obligations change. We’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page when we do.
